About OntarioHomeMath

OntarioHomeMath is a free set of calculators and guides for people buying, owning or renting a home in Ontario. It covers the costs that are easy to underestimate: land transfer tax, first-time buyer refunds, new-home HST rebates, closing costs, property tax, the Non-Resident Speculation Tax, mortgage affordability, and common landlord-tenant timelines.

How we build the tools

Every calculator is based on the published rules from the Government of Ontario, the Canada Revenue Agency, CMHC, OSFI and the relevant municipalities. Each page lists its official sources and the date the rules were last checked. When a rule changes we update the calculator and the review date.

What we are not

We are not lawyers, accountants, mortgage brokers or real estate agents, and we don’t sell any financial product. Results are estimates for planning. Confirm exact amounts with your real estate lawyer, lender or the relevant government office before you rely on them.

Privacy

The calculators run in your browser. We don’t ask for your name, and the numbers you type are not sent to us. See our privacy policy.
